Elite Kids Brandon Mebane Jersey The Nuggets travel to Los Angeles tonight in what Vegas has as the highest scoring and closest game of the night. Not only has Denver been scoring an incredible number of points lately, tonight they get the additional pace bump from the Lakers, who rank first in the league. That’s a perfect scenario for a shooter like Harris, and it doesn’t hurt that the Lakers DvP against guards is seventh-highest either.

The slugger started in left field for the first time this spring when the Brewers faced the Colorado Rockies. He made his first four Cactus League starts at first base.

It’s enjoyable, Braun said, taking ground balls for the first time in a long time. But it’s also stressful. I’ve never done it at all. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Braun is getting time at first base after the Brewers acquired outfielders Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain during the offseason. If the transition goes well, Braun would likely split time between left field and first.

I think [rest] will probably be the best thing, just instead of kind of hoping it gets better over the two or three days that it usually does, Irving said. It’s aching a little bit more than I wanted it to now, so I’m taking the necessary time.

Irving noted that, with more than a month before the start of the playoffs, he isn’t overly concerned about the balky knee. The Celtics are firmly entrenched in the No. 2 spot, now trailing the Raptors by 3.5 games (though two head-to-head matchups remain) and sitting 7 games ahead of the surging Pacers.

I’m not concerned. Where we are in the season, I’m pretty comfortable, Irving said. I think that, competitively, I think that’s more or less what I’m concerned about. When I actually do get back on the floor, I want to feel the level I expect myself to be at and I want to play at and being able to sustain it. Right now, I’m not able to do that. I just got to do that.

The Canadiens have been playing without Carey Price, Max Pacioretty and Shea Weber. Charlie Lindgren was weak on his glove side, finishing with 20 stops while battling traffic in front.

It’s free agency time in the NFL, and my message as always to current NFL general managers is buyers beware.

With Minnesota apparently jumping into the Kirk Cousins derby, it’s likely that Case Keenum, Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater all will hit the open market March 14. All three players come with question marks, yet they are intriguing based on their past production.

Elite Tom Jackson Jersey Meanwhile, Keenum will attract some good offers coming off a career year in which he went 11-3 as the starter for the NFC North champs. He began the season as Bradford’s $2 million backup but took over after Bradford’s knee injury in the opening game. Keenum played well (22 TD passes, 7 interceptions, 98.3 rating). He also beat the Saints in the divisional playoffs with the last-second TD pass to Diggs. But Keenum and the entire team didn’t play well in the NFC title-game loss to the Eagles.

The Giants are fortunate they can focus more on depth for the defensive line, because their current talent with 2016 free-agent additions Damon Harrison and Olivier Vernon is built well for the transition in fronts.

Linebacker, however, simply needs bodies. Kelvin Sheppard, Devon Kennard, Jonathan Casillas, Keenan Robinson, Mark Herzlich and Akeem Ayers all are Myles Turner Authentic Jersey unrestricted free agents. B.J. Goodson, their returnee in the middle, struggled through an injury-marred 2017 season. Agreeing to get Alec Ogletree in a trade from the Rams to start in the middle is a good start.

Wentz had a passer rating of 110.3 when kept clean in the pocket, throwing 25 touchdowns, which ranked second in the league, despite Wentz missing the final three weeks of the season with a knee injury. Wentz also was phenomenal on third downs, leading the league in big-time throw percentage (12.0 percent) and passer rating (125.0).

Keenum’s leap in performance was almost as impressive as that of Wentz or Goff. He was fantastic all season and enters free agency with the question of whether he can repeat that in 2018 or beyond.

Aaron Judge, Yankees leadoff hitter: The case is compelling

Imagine being a starting pitcher against the Yankees. Now imagine seeing that Aaron Judge is leading off.

First-year Yankees manager Aaron Boone is letting his imagination run, and that’s exactly what he sees: Judge as a table-setter.

Judge hit mostly second or third last season. A jump up to the 1-spot wouldn’t be that big a leap. The stats say it should work, too.

One of Cooperstown’s newest denizens was just 27 years old and had averaged 76 stolen bases with a .307 batting average from 1982-86. Yet, no teams other than the Expos made him an offer that included a raise over what he made in 1986. But because the point here isn’t to delve into the ugliness of collusion, we’ll just point out that Raines made a pretty spectacular return to the diamond.

In his first game back as a member of the Expos, Raines tripled off Mets starter David Cone in his first at-bat, walked and then stole second in the third inning, singled in the sixth and singled to lead off the ninth and came around to score. In the 11th, Raines put the exclamation point on his return: He smacked a grand slam off Jesse Orosco, giving the Expos a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

He may never have signed with the Royals had the team been able to lock up first baseman Eric Hosmer to a deal, but since the former No. 3 overall pick signed with the Padres, Kansas City had some money to burn.

The other candidate for the team’s title of best position player, and the reason Brinson is playing in right, Kiermaier is freaking good. He’s one of the few people you can call the best defender in the game and not get heat for it. Kiermaier’s defensive highlights are in heavy rotation on YouTube for a lot of people, and he’s an above-average hitter on top of that. The only knock on him is that he’s missed a decent amount of time with injuries over the past two years, but making a lot of diving catches on a field made of astroturf and concrete is going to do that to you. The sooner Tropicana Field gets handed over to a demolition company, the better.

Signed Wednesday by the Rays, Gomez provides yet another great outfield glove. He’s got a bit of pop in his bat, he loves to run wild on the bases, and he’s entertaining if nothing else.seahawks_029_5d99a80004baac3e-180x180

Kevin Durant has fun with All-Star draft, says he’s coming for Stephen Curry

Let no one say the NBA’s new All-Star draft isn’t fun.

The All-Star game, which has a draft for the first time in 2018 in lieu of the traditional East-vs.-West format, now pits the Warriors’ Kevin Durant against teammate and team captain Stephen Curry, one of two selectors for this year’s teams. Of course, LeBron James, the other All-Star selector, took Durant for his own team.

The Capitals have allowed power-play goals in five of their last seven games, having killed 72.7 percent (16 of 22) of penalties in those games.

Lindholm doubled the lead to 2-0 at 13:15. He fired a shot from the blue line that goalie Braden Holtby couldn’t see through traffic for his 10th goal, tying his career high set in 2015-16.

“We didn’t help ourselves a whole lot starting that way, but it wasn’t just that,” Capitals center Lars Eller said. “It was execution of passes, losing battles along the wall, being second on puck. Just being a split-second behind all the time. We’re not really a slow team, but in the first we looked slow because we were always chasing.”

When the star guards are paired with the 6-1 Shabazz Napier — yet another point guard — the Blazers really run. According to NBA.com, that trio is one of Portland’s best three-man lineups that’s played at least 120 minutes in terms of net (20.5) and defensive rating (93.0), and it holds the fourth-best offensive rating (113.4) to boot. A larger sample size will truly determine the effectiveness of this lineup, but it’s been great so far.

But after that, the next best three-man combo that includes both Lillard and McCollum is way down the list, when they play next to Ed Davis (6.9 net rating).

Again, the duo is good enough that they make it work. And Stotts has been smart about splitting time and giving both of them a chance to play with a variety of lineup combinations. That’s why the overwhelming majority of lineup stats — with any decent sample size — feature one of the two stars on this team.

Troy Tulowitzki unlikely to be healthy enough for opener

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day because of a bone spur on his right heel, manager John Gibbons said Sunday.

“I don’t expect he’ll be ready. But he’s moving in the right direction, so who knows?” Gibbons said.

Tulowitzki’s 2017 season ended on July 28 when he sprained his right ankle and also suffered ligament damage.

Though Game 7 would receive the most attention, it was Maddon’s Game 6 decisions which created his dilemma that was to come. Leading 7-2 in Game 6, he brought Chapman into the game in the seventh inning. It was hardly a save situation, and considering the closer’s Game 5 workload, many were left wondering if it was the right move.

“It was the middle of their batting order,” Maddon explained afterward. “There was just no other way to look at that and feel good, man. That could have been the ballgame right there. I thought the game could have been lost right there if we did not take care of it properly.”

Santana went 16-8 with a 3.28 ERA in 33 starts last season for the Twins, who earned an AL wild-card berth one year after losing 103 games.

Cody Bellinger, 1B, Los Angeles Dodgers (ADP: 27.5): In a dynasty league, he’d be my first 1B off the board — yes, even ahead of Paul Goldschmidt, Joey Votto and Anthony Rizzo. Sure, recommending the NL Rookie of the Year may seem too obvious, but in part because of the position he plays, he’s going a full round after his AL Rookie of the Year counterpart, Aaron Judge. Quite frankly, given what I feel is a much greater risk of Judge going into a prolonged slump, I’d much rather take my chances with 22-year-old Bellinger.

Rhys Hoskins, 1B, Philadelphia Phillies (ADP: 52.6): In a re-draft league, it’s a close call as to whether I trust Hoskins and his 170 career at-bats to be included in my top 10 at first base. However, when you factor in his age (25), and the fact he calls Citizens Bank Park — far and away the best stadium for home runs last season — his home, along with an OBP of .396, and I’d give him a very realistic chance at finishing in the top five at his position in 2018. He’s got far more years in his prime ahead of himself than most of his 1B peers, which makes him an intriguing inclusion on this list.raiders_008-223x223

Schroder helps Hawks hold off late Pacers’ comeback attempt

The Atlanta Hawks, with little more on the line than their spot near the top of the next NBA draft, outhustled an Indiana team playing to improve its position in the playoffs.

For Pacers coach Nate McMillan, that’s not acceptable.

Dennis Schroder scored seven of Atlanta’s final eight points to finish with 14, and the Hawks held off a late Indiana comeback to beat the Pacers 107-102 on Wednesday night.

This used to go only for non-post players. But in today’s NBA, even 7-footers are being asked to stretch the floor. Think of all of the elite bigs who have become 3-point threats: Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns, DeMarcus Cousins, Nikola Jokic and more.

Remember that blocks tend to regress over the course of an NBA player’s career.

So, when it comes to big-man 3-point production, everything is relative. Even a subtle boost is impactful. Davis is already a top-three player. But as he continues to camp out, and he gets closer to 1.0 3PG, you’ll see Davis become a yearly threat to become No. 1 overall.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies lost their 11th straight, going winless for February. Phoenix won for the first time since defeating the Dallas Mavericks 102-88 on Jan. 31. Elfrid Payton had 19 points and 10 assists for the Suns in the win over Memphis.

“I’m happy for the players, I really am,” Phoenix interim coach Jay Triano said, later adding: “It’s nice for them to get rewarded with a win.”

The smiles among the Suns were in contrast to the misery for Memphis, which continues to struggle. Marc Gasol led the Grizzlies with 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Andrew Harrison scored 20 points. Jarell Martin finished with 16 points.

“We were in a good situation to still win the game, and we struggled on the stretch,” Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. “We didn’t execute well. Our defense kind of melted down. We fought hard and we scrambled, and we competed. Sometimes that’s not enough — you have to play well, too. That wasn’t there down the stretch.”49ers_175
